Similar vein: virtually every true Republican I know has no faith in Bo French or most of the county “leadership.” They know one decent candidate who’s slightly left of center, or slightly right of center but believes 1-2 liberal things, can win here pretty easily.

In 2021 or so, I read an article called “the existing world vs. the encroaching world.” Think about it a few times per year. The guys that run Texas GOP right now are trying to double down on “existing world,” even tho it slipped years ago — they want women as baby incubators cranking out five, they want rich white guys to drive everything, no sin, no vapes, no porn, etc, etc. I’m all for morality and family, but they go too far in “existing” direction, and libs go too far in “encroaching” direction, i.e. a world that could be a guitar circle, so right now, everyone loses and it’s always “a battle for our souls.” But I agree that like, go look at Jim Jordan’s Twitter account — or even a guy like Penate locally. They have no charisma, make lame jokes, and attempt to “dunk” on people like AOC with tired barbs. If that’s the post-Trump GOP, without the strongman, and they’ve banned basically every escape route people have from $18 brie, I think they might be cooked.
