Every time I mention this to anyone, I end up getting berated and basically feel like a horrible person It is a horrible thought to people who love their pets. People who admit that they don’t like being parents also get a lot of static when they admit it. there’s nothing in return That is where you fall short. Pets, including cats, give you love and companionship. That you don’t see that will make some people have an opinion of you that you might not like. You have children. Growing up with cats and dogs is very good for children. It teaches them many good things. Many people have fond memories of the cats and dogs from their childhoods. Remind yourself of that when it seems like a pain in the ass. It is making your children’s childhood better, even if it does nothing for you.

I dont know, I think this was my Dany dying in Game of Thrones moment. Interestingly, I just rewatched season 8 of Game of Thrones. You will disagree, but I did not feel bad about her dying. Her mental health broke down, she slaughtered innocent people, and had plans to do it again with impunity. I was only sad that Jon Snow got sentenced to live out his life with the Night’s Watch with being disallowed of having a family. I like to think the ending where he rides of with the Wildlings meant he became their king, and with the unsullied gone nobody will give a fuck. Its gotten to the point where many major shows rely on subverting expectations which has turned into trauma porn. I wrote something similar in another thread. It worked in the past, but is now worn out in my opinion. People these days do not need artificial bad news with so much of the real thing around. I think every major series I have been into has had a lousy ending ( aside from the reboot of BSG ). 1923 and Yellowstone were just worse because the final seasons went sharply down in quality. Things that did not make sense, etc. I am the 8th generation to live in our old farm house and sure we have a lot of people buried in the cemetery but we also have a lot of fun stories and that is whats missing from 1923. Do you have a “train station”? 🙂 I have no idea how they lived there 50 years now and havent managed to make more than a handful of happy memories to include in this family story rather than a series of bad decisions leading to quick death. Stories need conflict. Maybe not as intense as Taylor Sheridans, but there have to be conflicts, problems to fix or people will not find those stories interesting. There will be nothing to tell. Usually some form of “happily ever after” ends many stories. In addition to seeing that I would like to see series end may 2-3 episodes after that. Enough for the fans to see the happiness, but not so many such episodes so it doesn’t end on a boring note.
