Look, I realize that the constitution is little more than used toilet paper stuck to Trumps ass at this point, but on paper the military still abides by the constitution. Government retribution for free speech is explicitly against the law. There are some exceptions for active military that apply to contemptuous speech of the President or other officials and military command, but those dont concern Charlie Kirk.

Most people outside of the terminally online had no idea who tf Charlie even was until he took a bullet. Chill on the canonization, good grief. but there are limits on what soldiers can say revolving politics too, they’re supposed to be nonpartisan. Charlie isnt a politician. YouTube influencers dont get special treatment. Military service members are forbidden from promoting a specific political candidate or party. They can express personal views on individuals, even political officials and candidates, as long as it doesnt appear as an endorsement of their politics and cant be misconstrued to be representative of the militarys views. But if you really think they shouldnt be allowed to say something negative about Kirk because hes such a big political figure, that would swing both ways and mean that service members offering condolences or sharing any other kind of positive comments about Charlie Kirk are engaging in prohibited political endorsement actions and should likewise be discharged immediately. Is that the route you are really advocating for? Finally, most people are not cheering for his death. There is some of that, but its a very small amount. Most are just pointing out that he sucked and his death is either ironic, funny, or worthy of zero empathy. Like I said already, anyone who is explicitly endorsing the illegal act of assassination/murder itself, would likely not get 1st amendment protection. Anything else is fair game.

So you agree these positions are positive? Interesting. What do you think about leftists that ascribe to these beliefs without ascribing to the, curiously unmentioned, negative beliefs of the ideology?

The choice to call Kirk a fascist is not something you’d see from a groyper either. Definitely not true. 1- groypers consider Israel a fascist nation, and they were harshly critical of Charlie Kirks support of Israel. 2- these types on right wing online trolls, and in fact right wingers in general, love irony and making ironic statements. They will call leftist fascists as a counter-narrative, and they will call themselves fascists as a joke ironic statement. Case in point, recently Greg Gutfield tried to claim Nazi as the rights own N-word and said whats up my Nazi? BUT HE COULDNT HAVE POSSIBLY SAID THAT IF HES A CONSERVATIVE?!?!? Another example is the republicans using a banner at their conference saying we are all domestic terrorists. Obviously they dont really believe that and were just poorly using irony (I hope.) Lastly I think people are reading way too much into these scrawlings that also included furry culture and if you read this, you are gay LMAO, pretty obvious these arent serious political proclamations.

Public officials don’t have the same first amendment protections. Beyond that, speech related to their responsibilities is not protected by the first amendment at all. Entirely wrong. Public officials have exactly the same first amendment protections, the only exceptions being some limitations regarding the scope of their official duties. There is no situation where they have no first amendment protections at all except specifically regarding speech that is not protected by the 1st amendment regardless of job title. Sharing their personal views outside of official duties, on social media, is protected via the first amendment assuming it is protected speech and not legally identifiable as discrimination or advocating violence etc.

I hope you feel that way at all the times GOP made light of political violence and assassinations against the left, I hope you found it necessary to speak up and take the damage when those happened too.

It would be a terrible thing to go through. But remember, a child is an individual, who may not share issues they are going through and may not show easily identifiable signs. And even if they do, a well-meaning and good parent may make mistakes and not properly address those issues, not out of malice or negligence but an ignorance that they arent qualified to identify or address themselves. A good parent may not know that their child is being bullied at school or the true extent of the bullying etc. or may not realize what content their child is consuming online. Should parents monitor 100% of said content? Maybe, thats debatable, but even if so should it be a criminal offense to miss something? As humans its easy to want there to be easily identifiable root causes to these issues that we can be confident that if we take the right steps, they could be prevented 100% of the time. But thats just not how human beings work. How one person/child copes with trauma will differ from one another, and how much trauma one can withstand will differ, and the signs will differ, and the solutions will differ. Parents can do a lot and they have a responsibility to do a lot, but there isnt going to be an end-all be-all math equation thats going to tell you how to 100% surefire prevent another person from committing a tragedy against themselves or others.

The implications of that would still be a discovery of monumental proportions.

Wanting due process is not wanting people to be detained and removed from the country without a chance to defend themselves against the accusations of being here illegally. And then if they are confirmed to be here illegally, deport them to their home country, dont send them to a foreign torture prison to serve a life sentence. It is simple, reasonable, and literally guaranteed by the constitution and reaffirmed by the Supereme Court. But you can keep arguing against some other idea if you like.

Its natural to feel a certain way about things such as these. Im glad you still acknowledge it may be irrational.
