I handle it by asking them how we choose our leaders, from dog catcher to president. First-born male? Feats of strength? Trial by combat? HOW do we choose them?!? Is there a vocabulary word for that? eyes dart around in confusion and sadness as they realize the answer

Im happy to just ignore them at this point. The end result is the same but far less exhausting. They cant be reasoned with and as much as wed like to believe that one day theyll regret their decisions when the consequences come, they wont. These people truly would eat shit just so liberals have to smell their breath. I say let them eat shit alone and stay far away.

Mass tariffs would be pretty bad for the economy. Mass deportations would be pretty bad for the economy. Combining these two things at the same time can only be described as willful sabotage of the country. Its insane that this is what the most voters saw as preferable. Of course, most of them probably dont even know what tariffs are or how they work, or the economic ramifications of mass deportation. The issue is that they are so uneducated that they likely wont understand that the ensuing issues were caused by these policies and will somehow blame the party that has no power in any branch of government at all. Education will be further eroded, working class rights and benefits will be further eroded, and we will be in a full blown oligarchy by the end of the next 4 years. What a disaster.

They wont care. 2 years from now, whether things are 10% more or 100% more, they wont care. They wont admit they were wrong. Theres never going to be a moment where they turn on the cult leader. 2024 wasnt about the price of eggs, just like 2016 wasnt about economic anxiety. Its the same excuse repackaged for people who dont want to admit they want to be ruled over by a strongman fascist.

The sad thing is that he literally could do this. Like its obviously not something that seems likely, but as the worlds richest man he has the means to conceivably do it. I dont know when people are going to wake up to the obscene amount of money and power certain singular individuals wield and why thats bad and should be prevented, but I hope its soon. Billionaires should not exist.
