This would have been an ever better vibe change if it happened like, a few months ago. Better late than never I guess.

Hey look at that huge crowd of Trump voters that see they have been duped and are very angry with Trump and his cronies! Its way, way, way over there. If you squint really hard, you can make outperhaps a dozen of them? Its almost like Trump support actually had nothing to do with the price of groceries at all.

If your friends are paying that much just in overtime taxes, they are very well off as it is. Likely making 150K-200K if not more per year. So they voted for a convicted felon adjudicated rapist with a history of giving handouts to the rich so they can afford to buy a home they already have the means to buy. Getting rid of taxes is a handout. Theres nothing different about overtime pay vs regular pay as far as taxes are concerned. They are compensated for overtime by making 1.5x their wage. Its Trump, GOP, Heritage Foundation, and corporations that will argue, likely successfully, that the wages they pay your friends is actually their money and they dont think its selfish to no longer pay 1.5x for OT. We pay taxes to benefit society and provide for important societal needs. And again, they voted for a man and a party which will give the lions share of any tax cuts in the form of hundreds of billions to trillions of dollars to the already ultra-wealthy. Not regular people working their ass off in overtime hours. And this is assuming Trump is going to do a complete 180 on helping the working class. Your friends took the empty promises of the most prolific liar of our times rather than simply look at his actions as president and you repeatedly fail to acknowledge the silliness of it because youre a contrarian twat. The truth of it is this; Trump isnt going to eliminate overtime taxes. If he does, it will be in combination with the plans outlined in p2025, and your friends may simply see themselves lose overall OT (by corps calculating OT over a longer range of weeks) or by their plan to make it easier for employers to misclassify their workers as independent contractors to skirt labor laws and OT pay. Your friends will get tax exemption from the OT they will no longer qualify for. And if/when that happens, your friends will still find some way to justify their vote for Trump. This will hold true for around 97% of Trump voters and I have no reason to believe your friends will be the outliers. Feel free to look back at this comment in the future as everything Im saying comes true. Calling out the bigots, racists, and dumbasses of society isnt the problem for me or for the Democratic Party. Its people like you who occupy themselves with wagging your finger at anti-trumpers and then bury your head in the sand as fascist autocrats and conspiracy nuts take over the government, tear down our institutions, give unprecedented trillions of dollars to the ultra-wealthy while robbing us of social security, healthcare, OT wages, regular wages, etc. The amount of blatant corruption, criminal activity, and wealth redistribution to the wealthy we are about to see will grossly surpass anything weve seen from any previous administration. Your friends will not be the beneficiaries. You likely are completely aware of this, but choose to spend your time shaming the democrats for calling out Trump and companys actions and behaviors. Its sad, weird, and pathetic. Trump didnt win because democrats were mean, he won because America is a sick society that doesnt understand the importance or value of institutions, education, expertise, or the state of the billionaire class war that they are handily winning against the 99%. This is a result of regulatory capture of the media and social media spaces by the rich and the GOP. As minuscule of a role as you might play, you are part of it.

So they voted for someone whom they think is an ass purely for the financial gain of paying less taxes, but would be against assistance for buying their first home? Doubtful, your friends are the epitome of selfishness personified if their reasoning is to actually be believed. Whats worse is that theyre also so bad at math they cant figure out that their selfishness is leading them to the least prosperous outcome possible. Trumps tax cuts arent going to help them much; 83% of his prior tax cuts went to the top 1%, leaving the remaining 99%, which presumably includes your friends, dividing up the remaining 27% of cuts. Whats worse, is that any tax reduction they do see will be more than offset by price increases of goods resulting from incoming mass tariffs and mass deportations. Nothing that you are saying in defense of your friends passes any level of scrutiny whatsoever. They are against government handouts for themselves and for the poor folk, but are totally for government handouts for the extremely wealthy that they imagine themselves as being part of. Tax cuts are government handouts, especially Trumps which go to wealthy business owners, land developers, and corporations, significantly cutting corporate tax rates, cutting tax penalties for the wealthy abusing offshore accounts, cutting estate taxes, etc. Trumps not helping the people who work their butts off with his tax cuts lol. Anyone who has paid any attention at all during the last 8 years would know that.

Wait wait, lmao, your friends are trying to become homeowners? So they passed up 25K in first homebuyer assistance to take a gamble on OT taxes from the guy who has only ever hurt OT? And whose tax cuts very disproportionately helped the rich? The bottom 60 percent of Americans saw less than a $500 annual reduction in taxes? Holy shit. Next youre going to tell me some of these friends of yours are planning to have children and thought Trump was the better choice financially in that regard as well. I gotta say the more this conversation goes on the dumber these friends of yours appear to be. But then again, like I said, they ultimately wont care if/when Trump does not follow through or actually hurts their OT pay. Oh well.

So what youre saying is; fuck the millions of salaried workers who got shafted by Trump on overtime previously. Noted. Surely, because Trump only fucked over salaried employees on overtime when he was president, that means its ridiculous to think hourly employees might too need to worry this time, even despite that the plans outlined in p2025 would impact hourly workers as well. Boy, sounds like youve really thought this one through!

You know the thing about Trump having been president previously, is that we can look at the things he did when he was already president. Its telling that you think the idea of him rolling back overtime pay and protections is laughable when he already did that last time he was president.. Meanwhile Obama strengthened overtime pay/protections and so too did Biden. But Im sure this time will be a complete 180 for Trump lmao. Its easy to see why youd be friends with such allegedly gullible morons.

I will, because that is what they are. Your friends are bigots, or so stupid they allowed themselves to be duped by an obvious conman who is only out for the rich. Unless your friends are part of the top 1% but if that were the case I doubt overtime tax comes into play much for them. Trump reduced overtime the last time he was president. Did your friends know that? Project 2025 outlines plans to undo even more overtime protections to make it so even fewer employees who currently qualify for overtime would qualify under Trump. Did your friends know that? Confront them on it and then come back here and let us know how they regret their decision and wished they voted differently. Im sure they wont go through mental gymnastics to explain why thats all ok.

They may have said that, but my experience with Trump supporters is that the reasons they say out loud never matter much. For instance, if Trump never follows through on that promise, or worse lets say his admin cuts overtime pay altogether; those half of your friends, most of them anyways, wont really care. They will find some other reason why supporting Trump was the right choice.

Yeah. Maybe 2016 you could argue fleecing. This time, after living through his first term, and witnessing everything that transpired after it, no one can claim ignorance. People knew exactly what they were voting for, and the people who didnt vote knew what was at stake.
