I had the same issue for a long time until I started playing handheld. If you’re playing through your tv there’s going to be a bit of lag and no matter how fast you are, you’ll still lose fish. If you’re already playing handheld then unfortunately you’ve just got to be faster.

You may have to move the shop, make the path and move it back to get it up that close. That’s what I had to do.

So I finally remembered to check the settings and there is a game mode. Unfortunately the lag is still bad and Ill miss fish kinda regularly.

Check your campsite, it’s probably occupied

They can be anywhere on your island beaches, however if you walk around a certain area repeatedly they will show up if you’d rather not traverse your whole island to find them. It’s random spawns, like normal manilla clams.
