Bro I ran a half marathon at 235 lbs (fatty) and 29 yoa last year in just under 2 and a quarter hours. 5k is light work. Edit: I didnt know you were girl, idk what its like to have your frame so idk actually.

Bro, drop that 12 min mile down to a 14 min mile and Ill bet you can already run two miles without stopping. Going fast for five minutes does you no good. Prioritize running for longer periods of time over distance or speed. The distance will come naturally and quick.

Longer time leads to longer distance.

Probably elevated cortisol levels. Happens to me when I get back into it.

Biggest tip I have as someone who has been a runner in both peak form and as a fatty, start off slow. Youre more likely to stick to it if you arent gasping for air the entire time. Also, set goals in time, not distance. Its really easy to add 20% more minutes to your run every week vs having to think about distance. 10 minutes doubles to 20 minutes like after 5 or 6 weeks. If you cant run the entirety of your time without stopping, youre going too fast.

Ive found two miles to be the sweet spot while Im hitting the weights more. Any more than that and I start to feel like Im not recovering as well.

Running outside is much easier and more accurate. I can easily run an 11 minute mile pace outside in zone 2 but 5mph on the treadmill feels so unnatural and way more difficult.
