Orthodox Jewish people were exempt from conscription as well. Because thier studies and work as scholars of the religion were deemed of value to the Israeli government. Israel has since decided that slaughter is better than thier own religion and started conscription of them as well. Israel sounds quite antisemitic there. They’d rather the true believers of the faith commit atrocities than uphold its tenants.
