Being single or being non-single aren’t absolutes. Let’s say you’re not single: how much contact do you have with that other person? Daily? Weekly? Something in between? Will that level of connection remain constant or change over time? Let’s say you’re single: does that mean you’re alone all the time? Can’t you even have a companion occasionally? What you might really need is a sex partner. Or, you might need a partner to improve your social status. If you’re a mediocre guy, there’s nothing like a vivacious girlfriend to make you more popular.

You have a great set of stories here that you can use on open mic night at the local comedy club. I believe them all. Now that you’ve had all these experiences you should be able to sniff out the bad ones in the future without spending the time to meet them in person.

My guess is: these men take some time to decide whether they want to be tied to you exclusively. You probably make that decision very quickly.

It’s possible that she showed up for the date and saw you, and changed her mind. It’s also possible that she didn’t look like her profile picture either, and that may have made it easier for her to ditch you.

You need to be careful about what you reveal to someone you’re just beginning to date. Women are like defense attorneys, always looking for evidence to dismiss you.

The fact that it was the end of your semester may have played a role in the openness and comfort. Now that she has returned to her normal life her interest may have disappeared.
