They have some cool low level powers/abilities, character has started to flesh out. Useful if you want to avoid Lvl 1 and 2 Baby PC grinding.

Strahd von Zarovich has some hit and run tendencies; if THAT big bad can guerrilla attack PCs, your main can do the same!

This is excellent advice. Laying out an entire world and populating everything isoften pointless. The players will go off on a tangent or whimsically shatter your carefully planned encounters. Plan for what theyre likely to run into soon, and worry about the rest later. As DMjust roll with it

Im a player in my Tuesday group, and the DM for a different Thursday crew. Im a happy lil DnD nerd! I was forever DM before my Tuesday group formed, so Im really enjoying being a PC again! I think it makes me a better DM; creates empathy for the PCs that I probably lost over the years as just DM.

A fine ideabut thats the beauty of D&D! WHO KNOWS what the players might do?! And the DM can justmold the world/action around their unexpected decisions. He can go any number of ways with it. Im with you, they should eventually have an are we the baddies? moment, and they can face down the BBG at the climax. You lied to us! (Party attacks)
