My one crew is a bunch of old hands; we blow through combat without too much extra crap, and DM descriptions of the action is kinda sparse. We know whats up. My other group is newbs, and I describe things in great and exciting detail, your blow lands but is ineffective, glancing off their armor! ‍️ diff crowds

While any character can find themselves in a solo moment in a campaign, its usually the Rogue (occasionally Ranger). When this happens, Ill say something like sounds like its time for the thief to do some thief shit! And the other players understand that it DOES happen sometimesbut they enjoy the mission impossible aspects of it, and want to help! Include them in the planning AND the plan. Create a diversion, whatever.

As a DM, a re-spec is usually fine. Especially at such a low level! Just explain itll be more FUN for you, and your new tweaks will benefit the whole party.
