Much. I’ve never been a smoker. I’m 53 and they had stopped smoking by their 30s but it fucks you up.

Which is reasonable with young children. Not so much with teenagers.

What I heard was, “Do you want something to cry about? I’ll give you a reason to cry.” And then I would get hit. Amazingly, getting hit enough did get me to stop crying. I would like to be able to cry. I couldn’t cry when mom died. It’s been 11 years and I haven’t cried.

Some did, and some didn’t. One of the best things we had was freedom. I would have lost my mind if my kids got up to some of the things I got away with because no one was paying any attention to us.
