This is literally why all the MAGA folks are upset, btw. Not because they want the truth or transparency, but because they have been waiting for Trump to do just that; release an obviously manipulated list naming all of Trumps political enemies and most sitting democrats so he can steal even more power. They are confused and angry as to why Trump isnt capitalizing on this obvious strategy. As you say, they must know they cant get away with it. My guess is if they tried it, theres still enough people with morals in the know at DOJ who would blow the whistle non-stop.

It’s called being a patriot, and having the morals and honor to hold true to an oath. I know these things are foreign to you, honor, morals, patriotism, but to some it means something. She is willing to die for those things.
