Sounds like you already have a good sense of OpSec (operational security). Consider a firearm and the training to use it effectively and with confidence. A dog can also keep the home secured and give you more confidence and support situational awareness. Learn a martial art to give yourself the tools you need in extreme circumstances, also enhancing your capabilities, confidence and situational awareness.

I’m living alone and have a small riverfront homestead with multiple gardens and orchards and I love it. Over the years I’ve learned to dial in the gardens to best suit my needs (not too much or not enough) and anytime I have extra veggies they usually go my chickens. It’s perfect, healthy and super fun. I usually let the seasons and the gardens dictate my eating habits, it makes life super easy and fulfilling.

I wash my dishes every morning after coffee before I cook my oatmeal. My kitchen is basically always clean now. Walk my dog every day no matter what after the oatmeal. Let the chickens out, water the gardens, chop wood, target practice with bow or firearms.
