Triple digits today in Southern Oregon, woke up around 5am. Had coffee, perused reddit, made oatmeal, cleaned kitchen, walked my dog for her daily along the river, just finished watering the gardens, having second breakfast (I only eat half my bowl before our walk, eating 2nd half with yogurt and fresh fruits) and more reddit rn. It’s already almost 80° now debating about the rest of the morning, planning to transplant some san pedro’s I’ve been rooting out the last few weeks, then if not too crazy hot take apart irrigation pump and see if it’s a repair I can do myself. I saw a used chainsaw on marketplace I may go buy, I may have mechanic do some work on my truck if I go grab the chainsaw, same town. Gonna be reading a book in the ac through the afternoon. edit: If any of y’all are in Southern Oregon and want some fresh pears and plums my trees are popping off right now. Blackberries too, way too many. I’m feeding my hens whatever hits the ground and happy to share, if you happen to be around here hmu!

My girl was a rescue, she’s a Staffordshire Terrier / Ridgeback and she’s the best, super sweet and smart, unless you’re a rodent. She’s a squirrel slayer, which is amazing as ground squirrels raided my gardens my first year at my home. She protects the chickens and keeps the compost rodent free and protects out lil homestead. I mostly work from home but I think that’s about change next month, she’ll be fine. I wake up early and we walk along the river every morning no matter the weather.

a few additions, considerations: Cameras keeping tabs of the perimeter, multiple fire extinguishers staged throughout the property including the vehicle, first aid and trauma kits staged in the house and vehicle, a real fire-rated safe bolted to floor especially if you have firearms and/or precious metals, jewelry, important documents. Make sure a family member has the code or key for your safe in case something happens to you. Spare key is in a hidden space outside the home, not in the car not in a lock box. Be sure to share with a friend or neighbor where the spare key is, it’s that person you reach out to to take care of your dog and cat in case something happens to you. Prepare a will or living trust and contingency plans for your critters, home and stuff. Smoke / fire & carbon monoxide detectors.

I’ve got a living trust with clear directives for everything and I have friends I’ve already let know who gets to take my dog, she’s loved by many and is amazing. My biggest challenge is knowing all the cool shit is going nieces and nephew who may not appreciate it like I do. I’d be thrilled to partner up with someone who has children to provide stability and an estate to inherit.

This is my take entirely and while absolutely content and happy, I am open to finding a life partner to join me in the bounty of my lil riverfront paradise. My joy and is not dependent on a partner I own it entirely, and I have space in my home, gardens and heart for another, for certain. I have gardens and orchards and more flowers than I know what to do with as a single man. I want to get a pair of goats one day but don’t want to do that on my own.

Exact same, extra library with guest bed and writing desk. I have a real fireplace in living room, no guitars.

Same with me, bought my home and immediately drafted my living trust.
