The media isn’t covering most of the protests. On some social media platforms you see it. I’ve seen videos of Washington D.C. residents forming being crowds, walking forward, blocking ICE, and forcing them to retreat.

Nothing un-vegetarian about being soaked in oil. Vegetarianism has historically been about religion, ethics, or both, not optimal health. In the ancient world many people did not get a lot to eat. The oil was probably appealing in terms of getting more calories for that 1 helping you did get.
