Also make sure you dig holes behind you, at least two, to keep you from being knocked backwards and get the max amount from each rock. Also if you talk to Katrina at Harv’s island after you unlock the trailer park and pay for her plot (hers is the first to your left) she will give you a fortune each day, and one possibility is more money which includes a better chance at gold from rocks.

The worst is when they’re right behind flowers. For me at least, I can never see the crack until I’m almost on top of it. I’ve never had four spawn so close together like that. Probably the only place left to look!

You can have coffee with special characters or offer to make them a vacation home with the HHA dlc but they can’t live on your island.

Unless I’m mistaken, you can only build up 3 times, and the 3rd level is basically useless. You can’t place things, you can’t climb to it and no, nothing spawns up there including fossils since you can’t walk on that level. But I suppose that would be the fourth level if you include the lowest point.
