I manage communications for two atheist organizations, and many atheists still prefer to keep their identities hidden. Especially people who have only recently been public about their abandonment of religion. There is a very real fear that trump’s Gestapo will be kicking in our doors.

Religion is very pervasive. It tries to encompass every area of life. That’s why they say cradle to grave.

I agree with you completely. The fact that religious zealots feel the need to convert other people reveals that those zealots are not 100% believers. People get sucked into religion for social reasons. They want to be part of a group. And they need more and more people to be part of that group so that their obvious psychosis can be further hidden.
