It could be intended to provoke violence. Trump wants to provoke violence so that he can call out the army to shoot people. He might call out the army anyway. He might just use a fake event like Hitler used the burning of the reichstag.

The World of atheists is complex. There is a wide spectrum of beliefs within the atheist community, and just as wide a spectrum of perspectives. The atheist community includes people who have only recently awakened. We try to be welcoming and supportive of them.

I sometimes feel sympathy for them if they continue to cling to their fantasies in the face of overwhelming evidence against them. I have to remember: I identified as Christian until about 5 years ago, when I finally decided to give it up. I was trying to redeem the word Christian, I used to say I’m Christian but I’m one of the rare non-hating ones. That became tiresome, so I gave the whole thing up.
