Idk if this person has thought this deep about it, but politicians are very aware that when fewer people vote, conservatives are almost guaranteed to win. When there are larger turnouts it’s much more likely someone left of center will get more votes. It’s not to conservatives advantage to do anything that makes more people want to vote.

We should not be ok with the government telling people how to live their lives. I don’t care how unhealthy something is or how much you disagree with someone’s lifestyle, people should be given all the information then allowed to do as the please as long as they only affect themselves. I consider “sin taxes” to be a form of government control by disincentivizing whatever it is the government doesn’t think you should be doing. Especially since these taxes are going to be regressive in nature and affect the poor and middle class way more than anyone in the upper tax brackets. If the government needs more money so damn badly, TAX THE FUCKING RICH. Sorry OP, don’t mean to hijack your post. You shouldn’t be charged more for wanting to have some cranberry juice, even if it is “mostly sugar” (it’s not.) Everything in moderation.

Id say Platt_Mallar summed it up pretty well. Trumps justification for the attack was bs even according to his director of intelligence. At least it was till Trump told her to lie about it.

When there are masked men kidnapping people off the street, youre damn right Ill call the police. Now do I trust them to actually protect the people that are having their rights violated? Not really. But Id rather take that chance and actually do something rather than just let it happen.
