I know I called out republicans, and they do own this but democrats havent done that much to improve things either. They run on something good then either forget about it after the election like Biden did with single payer or do a little bit but not nearly enough to make things substantially better. If they meaningfully improved peoples lives, what would they run on in the next election?

I mean, youre probably not wrong. If he had tried to push single payer instead of Obamacare we might not be in this situation.

I wonder why theres low birth rates though? Could it have something to do with low incomes? Fears that if a woman does get pregnant and has an issue that requires an abortion to save her life it could be denied? Lack of health insurance? Fear of losing their job when they need to take maternity leave? These are all policy choices by our government when they dont force private businesses to treat employees well. The free market is a joke.

Oh, lol you werent talking about the big beautiful bill. Yeah healthcare is completely screwed in the bill so we get to see what that looks like.

Its in the Senate right now. I dont think it will pass in its current form. Once they make changes then it goes back to the House who will probably make changes as well. And around we go.

I agree. I just want democrats to truly be better than Republicans instead of what many are doing now which is letting them fail and running on not being them. There are some good ones out there, but I agree with David Hogg that we need to primary Democrats, even in safe districts if they arent doing a good job. We also need younger people in office with a fresh perspective.

That is also a policy choice. If we had some version of universal healthcare like every other developed country in the world that wouldnt be the case. But politicians work for whoever gives them money, and the corporations give the most.

Agreed. Im 45 and Ive never felt like I was in the position, financially, to be able to take care of someone besides myself. Its just gotten worse as time has gone on.
