Bella Ramsey is a hell of an actress imo. Ill be surprised if she doesnt nail it. Honestly I think her casting for Ellie eclipses Pedros casting for Joel.

These sentiments were very commonplace at the time. Hell they might be still now, I dont follow it too much. But when part 2 released you would be hard pressed to find a forum where (a loud minority of) gamers werent enraged and typing poorly written essays filled to the brim with grievances about trans (even though Abby is not trans) and all kinds of hate. Most of it directed to the writers of the game but theres always a non-zero percentage of fans who are too invested and take their anger out on the voice actors etc.

Yeah this is why I dont think the show scene will divide the audience that much. TV viewers are used to main characters dying since game of thrones and walking dead and a myriad of other shows, its commonplace. Video games, while similar, is a different medium. You really start to feel a connection to the characters you play as, as you are, to a degree, dictating how their story and actions play out, and you view things from their perspective. In the game you spend so many more hours with Joel directly, seeing all of his little moments he has, alone with himself or slowly and organically building up a meaningful and fatherly relationship with Ellie. And where shows of this nature have trained us to expect important characters to get killed off, video games often train us to expect to play as the popular main characters repeatedly over a myriad of subsequent sequels. I can understand gamers would be so sore about it (of course some took their grief way too far), but for the show its going to play out like the red wedding or Glenns death. Which were rough, but not dealbreakers for most.

What is dead may never die.

So well probably see him get his head caved in proper while Ellie screams in agony. Going to be rough but honestly it needs to be rough to sell Ellies relentless persistence of revenge that is the basis of the story.

Holy shit dude, when someone says that was a walk in the park do you also get all bent out of shape and say that comparison doesnt hold up. Where were the trees, and the birds???

I liked episode 4 a lot. There are very vocal haters that like to complain loudly. Best to ignore them.

Right, this is a core dilemma of the human experience. Of course most people agree it makes sense to sacrifice one life to save millions, maybe more. But if that one life was your child? Most parents would not willingly make that sacrifice. At the same time, Joels not a saint. Hes a survivor, and in order to survive in that world hes had to do bad things. Its easy to be sympathetic because hes been through a lot and been wronged by the world at large, but that doesnt mean his actions should be forgiven easily. Part of what makes it such a great story are the moral struggles it presents.
