My surgery is tomorrow morning, I’m 54 and while ready I’m also feeling a bit scared of it all. I met someone yesterday who had TKR two years ago and ended up with a staff infection, he was wearing a brace when I met him. Really discouraging and a new fear put into my process. I realized that it was a good reminder to keep everything clean be extra careful. But still, goddamn. Good to hear about your hike, well done op!

I had mine yesterday as well. I had good mobility through afternoon & evening, pain manageable until bed. I didnt sleep at all last night, was getting up ever to pee, able to do it all without help. I doubled my oxy hoping to knock myself out and did not. PT in a few hours. Only thing I couldnt do this morning without help was put socks on. Using ice packs instead of of machine as my doc insisted I dont need and will heal well without . I thought I could manage seating on the toilet and may need to find a riser today.

Ive been taking 2 colace a day and one spoonful of psyllium daily in water. On second day post-op, yesterday morning I had a token shit, not much. Today took 2 solid ones, and by solid they must have been bricks. Ive never clogged a toilet in my home but its clogged now. Lol I have a friend bringing over a snake shortly, plunger and draino didnt do it. Eat as healthy as you can. Lots of protein and fiber (fresh veggies and oatmeal deluxe for breakfast), absolute minimum sugar and processed foods. Only good fats.

Last night, 3rd post surgery, was the first night I slept. My first 2 nights are exactly what u describe OP, getting up every hour to urinate. I think Im healing very fast, day of surgery it was single step using walker operative (right) leg forward. Yesterday I able to lead w left step through w right. Today I can roll across the kitchen or hallway and negotiate complete steps, not setting back legs down. I have less swelling than yesterday, no bruising, manageable pain. I feel fortunate. Best of health and luck for ur recovery OP.

Last night was 3rd night post op and first time Ive slept since Wednesday night , was finally able sleep mostly on my side w pillow under / between legs. Also took my first real shit this morning. While still in a lot of pain Ive got a lot more mobility than anticipated, I seem to be healing fast. So far no bruising, cramps or complications . Best of healing to you op.

Ive made a point to be helpful over the years and many have returned the favor. Being a good neighbor is very important to me. I live alone, no partner or children and Ive had envy of yall with partners who can be there every step of the way. Being able to lean on friends and neighbors has been a blessing.
